If you are moving to Lund as an exchange student and you were able to find accommodation in Lund through International Housing Office (IHO), you are probably wondering how the room you are going to stay looks like on the inside. For an idea, here are some pictures of one of the rooms in Delphi:
And this is one of the possible views you might get, in the Summer and Winter:
Finding accommodation in Lund by yourself is not an easy task. There is a high demand in apartments for students, mainly during the beginning of each academic period.
If you are an exchange student you can count on International Housing Office (IHO) which is part of the Student Services at University of Lund. However this office has limited number of rooms and flats to provide for the great amount of students arriving every year to Lund.
If you are planning a long stay in Lund, here are some tips to find accommodation in Lund or nearby:
- bopoolen.nu – One of the most popular websites for house search in Lund is bopoolen.nu. There you can find ads offering accommodation, get legal information and advice about housing situation in Lund. Also you can advertise yourself, posting for free your own profile asking for accommodation.
- Hotels – If you are coming to Lund without a place to stay or you want to make a housing search in loco, you should start by booking a hotel. Bad news is that there are no cheap hotels in Lund. It is good for very short stays. Some of the cheapest ones are about 500 SEK per night. You can find a list here.
- There is also the Train Hostel, which is the cheapest place to stay. They have a very friendly staff but don’t expect a high level of comfort, since the rooms are quite small.
- Another option is to rent a room for a short period from other students. There are some people that travel for a short period, have their rooms free and want to get some extra money or just to cover the rent of their room. It is more frequent to happen during the academic vacations period. You can find their ads also in bopoolen.nu or on facebook groups. I recommend the International Students Lund University and Lund Accommodation.
Good luck!
